Dickensian attitudes by fitters and customer service. I often move. being a freelancer, so use carpet firms often - sometimes buying new carpet but occasionally refits. I wish I had used Carpetright again instead of this firm. Fitter Nick doubled his telephone estimate despite my giving accurate dimensions. A bag of moans, he sent a 'mate' who did most of the work. The second was a better fitter, though arrogant ('you are lucky to get me. I don't usually do refits.'). Nick could not leave quickly enough, asking if I really wanted underlay as it was old carpet (I hadn't realized, using a previous tenant's carpet for speed). When they finished, I expected the underlay to be deducted but Nick refused, saying there were 'two men.' As it was late and I felt somewhat intimidated, I let him get away with it. I wrote to the firm, saying they need not respond but expecting Nick to reimburse me. No response. Work got in the way (as it does) and a year later, I emailed customer service. No response again. The hall carpet looks terrible, wrinkled and uncomfortable. And, to boot, I must buy underlay again. It's only 40 - but I paid Nick over 200 for one average size room. Wish I had gone to Carpetright - a very relable firm.
